2024 is PBC’s 25th Anniversary. I can’t imagine it lasted this long. This year is also 45th Anniversary of Hong Kong Citybus and MTR. To celebrate the special year, I’ve made a model that combines both: A Citybus that had MTR livery. In 1983, MTR attempted to offer its own feeder bus routes in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island with Citybus as contract operator. MTR purchased 2nd hand buses from London and painted in MTR livery. Hong Kong government blocked the effort as other franchised operators (KMB, CMB) and minibus companies were against it. Those buses eventually purchased by Citybus for private hire and tour operation. Decades later, Citybus became a major franchised company and completely replaced CMB. MTR operated its own feeder bus routes in New Territories.
